Miami’s Mayor Suarez Accepts Bitcoin for Presidential Campaign

This decision marks a significant milestone in adoption of cryptocurrencies in mainstream political fundraising.

In a groundbreaking move, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has announced that he will accept campaign donations in the form of bitcoin for his potential presidential campaign.

Francis Suarez, the 33rd Mayor of Miami, announced his candidacy for president in June, entering for the GOP nomination that includes former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Francis Suarez believes that this is a process of developing technologies that are going to create democratizing opportunities for wealth creation.

This decision marks a significant milestone in adoption of cryptocurrencies in mainstream political fundraising.

Suarez said that supporters can donate as little as 0.00034 bitcoin, equivalent to $1, at francissuarez.com.

In 2021, Suarez launched MiamiCoin (MIA), which he planned to use someday to pay a recurring bitcoin incentive to Miami citizens, similar to a bonus paid to shareholders of a company.

Suarez remains deeply involved in the crypto industry and highlights the importance of a president who understands the technologies around crypto and artificial intelligence (AI).
